(Coffee Table, Coffee Books)
(2025)
The work critically examines themes of consumer guilt and the paradoxes of post-consumerist culture. Coffee table books are emblematic of aestheticized excess; they invite desire—desire for objects, experiences, and lifestyles. By transforming these objects into a single utilitarian form, the work reflects on the cultural speed of consumption and its aesthetic byproducts; invites the viewers to rethink not only what we consume, but how, why, and at what cost.
In an era when sustainability has become a marketing tool, and recycled materials a badge of virtue, the project questions whether the proliferation of "eco-conscious" goods represents genuine responsibility - or a new form of collective self-deception.
The project positions itself within a broader ecosystem of urban imaginaries, challenging the logic of surface and spectacle that dominates our urban environments. It gestures toward a slower infrastructure of attention—where objects are not just meant to be looked at, but looked through. It asks: how can slowing down include not just pace, but purpose? Can we build a culture that values endurance over allure, depth over surface?
