About Us

studio circOlar is a Copenhagen-based design studio founded by four female designers and architects in 2024, brought together by a shared commitment to material innovation and circularity.

With expertise rooted in product development, spatial & material design, and systems thinking, a foundation formed at the Royal Danish Academy, we specialise in the design of bio-based, reclaimed material solutions that integrate seamlessly into high-performance environments and forward-looking business models.

We collaborate with businesses, municipalities, and institutions to co-develop regenerative material strategies that support decarbonization, circular procurement, and sustainable branding at scale.

Our Approach

We operates at the intersection of design, material science, and sustainability consulting, transforming post-consumer and industrial waste streams into meaningful resources. Each project is grounded in a deep respect for context - environmental, social, and economic - and a commitment to new economies, new design language, and decentralised systems of care.

Through strategic partnerships and design-led research, we deliver circular solutions that are functional, durable and practical, while supporting long-term value creation across sectors.

We Believe In...

(Circularity)

We believe in designing with full lifecycle accountability. From material sourcing to end-of-life strategies, our design process is rooted in low-impact, regenerative thinking - prioritising reuse, recyclability, and long-term adaptability.

(Material Honesty)

We celebrate the aesthetic and narrative embedded in reclaimed materials. Imperfections, texture, and wear are not flaws - they are indicators of origin, use, and potential. Our work brings these characteristics to the forefront, allowing materials to speak for themselves through thoughtful, minimal intervention.

(Open Collaboration)

We believe circularity can only be achieved through collective intelligence. Knowledge - whether technical, tactile, or experiential - should be open, accessible, and shared. We actively foster transparent dialogue, co-creation, and accessible tools that enable communities, partners, and the public to engage in circular design practices.
